Giraffe

This sculpture of a Giraffe was designed by Margaret Hudson and hand-sculpted at her Earth Arts Studio in Fresno, CA. A life long lover of nature, Margaret Hudson first sculpted the Quails and Bears native to California, but visits to Fresno’s Chafee zoo inspired her to sculpt creatures that lived further from home. Each of these clay creations is high-fired so they’re cute enough for your home and tough enough for your garden.

This Giraffe is available in three sizes and can be made with natural spots, heart shaped spots, or a necklace of flowers. It is also available as a planter.
– The small size is 6″ tall, 4″ wide and 3″ long
– The Medium size is 9″ tall, 8 wide and 4″ long
– The large size is 13″ long, 10″ wide and 6″ long
– The extra large size is 22″ tall, 18″ wide and 9″ long

In the late 1960’s and 70’s Fresno artist Margaret Hudson became well known for her earthy clay sculptures of joyful children and animals. Hudson’s large clay and bronze works appear at parks, hospitals and schools throughout Fresno, California and her art has been featured in the California State Museum. Although Margaret Hudson passed away in 2020, her original designs are still handmade by a small team of sculptors led by Margaret’s long time assistant Lydia Buciok who began working with Margaret in the 1980’s and has decades of experience learning her techniques.

– Out of stock sculptures will be made to order, which takes 1-2 weeks for most sculptures but 3-4 weeks for the largest pieces.

– This sculpture is made from high-fired clay, and can go outdoors in rain or shine. However, repeated freezing and thawing in wet conditions may damage the sculpture.
