Margaret Hudson’s ceramic quail statues have been a common sight in homes and garden’s throughout California’s central valley and beyond since the 1970’s. The simple playful birds capture the joy Margaret found in nature, and their rich earthy clay reflects Margaret’s belief that all living creatures are born from the same earth. Today, Margaret’s statues are handmade at Earth Arts Studio by artisans who worked alongside her for decades. Each quail is hand sculpted from locally sourced clay and high-fired at stoneware temperatures so they can be safely displayed outdoors.
