The Art of Margaret Hudson

Margaret Hudson is best known for her whimsical sculptures of bears, quails and other animals which can be found in homes and gardens throughout California’s central valley, but over the course of her artistic career she explored a number of styles and mediums. She was inspired by a trip to central America to do nearly life size clay sculptures of the women of Ecuador. During a period of grief after the death of her parents and youngest son, Margaret Hudson explored abstract beaten clay forms. After working with clay for decades Margaret longed for color so she painted large flowers, exploring the beauty and fragility of life and nature.
